Our partner company, IDOM, is one of the leading used car retailers in Japan. The company operates a network of stores worldwide that buy and sell used cars from Japan. In 2018, the company decided to branch out its line of business into the African continent, starting with Tanzania.To ensure smooth business operations in a new country, the company wanted to build its own custom ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system to automate its processes and take into account the Tanzanian market peculiarities and trends. Instead of opting for an off-the-shelf product, IDOM execs thought it best to create a solution that would be an exact match for their business needs – nothing more, nothing less. THE SOLUTION Since the challenge was to deliver a solution tailored to the client, our team built an ERP system from scratch that included its own custom CRM, Fleet Management, and Finance modules. The custom CRM module was designed to automate work with clients and includes features like lead and opportunity management, rent and lease management, warranties and insurance, etc. Having analyzed the client’s existing processes, which were mostly based on Excel sheets, we were able to build a Fleet Management module tailored to their workflows in order for them to track, analyze, and enhance their fleet operations.VOLO provided IDOM with a full scope of development services, which included Software Engineers, Business Analysts, a Project Manager, and QA Engineers. In a way, our team also acted as a Product Owner of the project, receiving only high-level requirements from the client and having to transform those into specific product features – a job that requires a considerable amount of research and analysis. To hasten the development process and implementation and reduce the time between releases and receiving feedback from users, we chose to follow the Agile methodology.

The idea was to create an air quality monitoring mobile application to run on wearable devices in order to enable users to gain control over their health by tracking the quality of the air they breathe in. They wanted to integrate the app with their innovative smartwatch which was equipped with six different sensors intended for air quality monitoring (e.g., CO2, alcohol, and other harmful gasses) along with temperature and humidity.The app would notify its users when they are exposed to dangerous levels of pollution, as well as track their total exposure over time and location. The app would also act as an access point to enable the updating of the firmware on the wearable sensors.The Solution In just 3.5 months, we delivered the air quality-monitoring app for iOS and Android along with creating its cloud structure and data backup. The app connects client-produced hardware device sensors and boards via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection to receive and monitor sensor data.Moreover, it allows users to see diagrams of historical measurements on Map locations as well as the last taken measurements of other users via Network Map.

Kofile is one of the oldest and most experienced private data conversion services companies in the US that specializes in public records. The company is built on the compiled remnants of the once-great former document preservation and storage business of Eastman Kodak. The business is unique in that it comes with a number of centuries-old contracts for document storage and preservation with nearly every city, county, state, and federal government organization in the US.Our scope of work included:Re-architecting and refactoring the code base to bring the system to a fully functional mode.Optimizing the data retrieval function to improve performance when dealing with large amounts of data.Integrating Microsoft Azure Blob to boost handling fire storage manipulations.Integrating Redis for storing the cache data to support Multi Server instances of the main application and remove the load off of the Virtual Machine Memory.Optimizing the Cache Memory Performance to store the entirety of the frequently used data and reduce the load off the database.Implementing a new business logic to run business processes asynchronously and speed up the product’s overall performance, as well as to support error handling.Integrating Team City for fast deployments.Developing Device Service to generate a connection between all devices (signature pads, magnetic card readers, printers, scanners, etc.) located at the local counties’ systems and the main application running in the cloud.After making sure the business was up and running, we then turned our attention to re-architecting the entire platform using a micro-services concept and ended up delivering a first-rate solution.
