Situation Staff at a regional health insurance plan was quickly becoming overwhelmed by having to process hundreds of broker commission statements each month. In addition, broker/agents were submitting complaints about processing time and inaccurate payments. Goal Improve commission accuracy, timeliness, and deliverability to improve independent agent satisfaction. Solution Delivered custom commission system, fixed erroneous legacy data, integrated a 3rd party system, and fully deployed application within 3 months.Results Reduced completion time from 35 days to 10 days, reduced staff burden from 80 hours per month to 8-12 hours, reduced error rate from high single digits to less than 1%, and increased broker/agent confidence in commission payments 100 fold.
Situation A regional health insurance plan needed a way to onboard, train and certify independent broker/agents who market their Medicare health plans. They also needed a way for agents to quickly sign up members that included electronic signatures while ensuring that they followed the Scope of Appointment (SOA) process required by law. They had been using a combination of spreadsheets and 3rd party SaaS software for registering brokers which was proving to be too costly and time-consuming. Goal Increase health plan membership through more efficient onboarding of brokers that included an easier way to sign up potential members.Solution Delivered a Broker Portal that allows certification, training, access to marketing and education materials, and electronic member application in time for open enrollment.Results Over 4,100 agents electronically certified, 405 electronic member applications during Open Enrollment and greatly expanded agent network.
