Enhancing QA testing with mixed approaches

OutstaffYourTeam partnered with a software company which develops an app for delivery services. The client’s main requirements were to build a Quality Assurance Team which will be able to do functional, regression and cross-platform testing of the app in a timely manner (testing mobile app features, app upgrades, interruption testing, code change testing, compatibility test). The challenge: To determine which QA specialist is required for this particular business: manual or automation. To integrate testers to the current Development Team and to secure seamless communication between them (setting up sprints to exchange updates, holding cross-training sessions, etc.) The solution: First, we carried out a few meetings with the Head of IT to determine key goals of the project. Based on the project requirements, timeline, budget, and suitability, we suggested building a QA team combining Manual with Automation testing. We decided to implement both practices as this approach covers various aspects of the same application feature. Automation allows us to perform in-depth tests faster while Manual testing helps to unveil user experience issues as well as  serious bugs that occur during unscripted scenarios. We also designated a QA Team Lead to track progress on the project regularly and ensure two-way communication between the QA Team we provided and the existing Development Team.
