The new wave of Global Bank branch offices come with a fresh, renovated interior line. This particular office, located in Penonome, intends to merge with its cultural context. For us, this meant a modern interpretation of local materials and motifs. Local practices include latticed block facades, which provide adequate natural light while maintaining a level of privacy. We created a latticed pattern as an interior feature, emulating the lattice block concept. Additionally, the brand colors mixed together with light textures make for an elegant and sober interior space.

The proposal comes as an adaptation of the user’s needs to a tight and irregular plot of land. We used this irregularity to create a succession of diverse and attractive spaces for the family. The shifting angles of the plot let us maximize interior space usage without compromising privacy or views. The main hall opens up to a back garden. This serves as a visual relief, and provides spacious social areas.
An abandoned apartment turned hip household, Casco Flat resembles the youthful spirit of the family that commissioned this work.To counter the property’s tight dimensions, such as a low ceiling and narrow sides, we accentuated horizontals. This meant adding a large glazed opening that bathes the main hall with natural light and creates an ample living-social space. Adequate materials, as well as proper lighting, direct the view in a horizontal fashion and make the best out of a tight property.
Jose Carles’s kitchen is a display of creativity over the canvas of Panamanian heritage. It is a story told by exotic, yet familiar flavors. As such, it can only be paired with a space of similar quality. This restaurant fills the skeleton of an old building in the historic part of town. Much like the stories behind the dishes, the main dining hall is shrouded by an aura of comforting mystery. Dim lights flood the intimate 16 seat room. The entirety of the interior spaces and furniture consists of warm materials, particularly wood, which is reminiscent of the countryside architectural expressions.
